Dave Bautista throws shade at John Cena buddy comedy suggestion

Dave Bautista and John Cena have plenty of experience together in WWE – but that’s no guarantee of a big screen sequel.

The Guardians of the Galaxy star followed in Cena’s footsteps when he moved into the world of Hollywood after hanging up his boots, but they’re yet team up in front of the camera.

Fans would love that to change, and but it seems Bautista himself isn’t quite as enthusiastic more about a movie collaboration.

A fan shared a picture of both actors, and suggested: ‘I would love to see a @JohnCena @DaveBautista Buddy Movie (sic)’

However, the former world champion replied with a crying laughing emoji and quipped: ‘You and you both!’

It doesn’t sound like the 52-year-old star is keen on a possible project, which perhaps isn’t surprising with his previous comments about Cena and Dwayne Johnson’s post-WWE work.

Back in 2019, a fan pitched the idea of him appearing alongside them in a Fast and Furious spin-off, and it’s safe to say it didn’t go down well.

‘Thank you for your consideration,’ he tweeted with two vomiting emojis, adding in a hashtag that he’d ‘rather do good films’.

Ouch.

He didn’t hold back in a past interview with the Tampa Bay Times either, when he described The Rock and Cena as ‘wrestlers who became movie stars’.

‘I was a wrestler. Now, I’m an actor,’ he said. ‘Rock was, in a way, a movie star before he was even a movie star.

‘There is something about him that’s really special. I’d never take that away from him. Would I consider him a great actor? F**k no. I want good roles. I don’t care about Fast and Furious or Bumblebee.

‘That’s not the kind of stardom I want… I want to be in Dune. I want to work with Denis Villeneuve. I want to work with Sam Mendes and Jodie Foster. I want to work with Academy Award winners. I’m proud to be a character actor. I want that respect and credibility and education.’
