Giannis Antetokounmpo’s monster run in the NBA Finals so far has Milwaukee Bucks fans remembering Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
As the Bucks took a 3-2 lead against the Phoenix Suns in their series, Giannis also reached new heights as he matched a feat that was only done by KAJ and LeBron James before. Apparently, he is only the third player in history to have at least 150 points, 50 rebounds and 25 assists through the first five games of an NBA Finals.
Abdul-Jabbar did it in 1974, while LeBron James did it three times in 2015, 2017 and 2020.
For what it’s worth, Giannis Antetokounmpo has scored a total of 161 points for the Bucks from Games 1 to 5. He has also recorded 65 rebounds and 28 assists to join the elite NBA Finals club.
His all-around game is the main reason the Bucks have won three straight games and taken a crucial lead against the Suns. Of course credit should be given to Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday as well, but Giannis’ activity on the floor has opened up a lot of opportunities for Milwaukee and made life hard for Phoenix.
However, while the numbers are insane, Giannis surely couldn’t care less about it. After all, he knows the job is far from over and the Bucks need one more win before celebrating. He should be inspired by the fact that the two other names on the list are NBA champions, though.
