DeMarcus Cousins is officially headed for an exit out of Houston, with the team citing a shift in priority from the veteran big man to the exciting young star, Christian Wood.
With Cousins set to hit the free-agent market, the Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly become the favorites to pick him up, according to the latest report by Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson.
“Lakers, Nets, Heat expected to make run at DeMarcus Cousins if he’s bought out by Rockets. Lakers believed to be favorite.”

Due to a string of serious injuries, DeMarcus will probably never return to being the All-Star player he was years ago.
Still, he has a lot left in the tank. With season averages of 9.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game, he’s a capable scorer, solid rebounder, and experienced veteran.
With increased competition in the West, the Lakers might need an extra punch in the frontcourt if they want to stay ahead of the game. Cousins, who already has some experience with the team, might be their best bet.
