Police officer charged with rape and sexual assault

A police officer has been charged with rape and sexual assault and will appear in court later this month, police have said.

Police Sergeant Ben Lister, of West Yorkshire Police, will appear at Bradford Magistrates’ Court on March 24.

He has been suspended from the force, West Yorkshire Police said.

A force spokesman said: ‘A West Yorkshire police officer has been charged with one count of rape and one count of sexual assault.

‘Police Sergeant Ben Lister, based at Bradford District, is due in court at Bradford Magistrates’ on 24 March 2021.

‘He is currently suspended from the force.’
