Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has backed Erling Haaland to become the best striker in the world, but has warned the prolific Borussia ortmund forward not to rest on his laurels after a stunning start to his career.

The 20-year-old has appeared unstoppable over the last two seasons, first for RB Salzburg and now for Dortmund in the Bundesliga and Champions League.

The Norwegian netted 28 goals in just 22 games in the first half of last season for Salzburg before a January 2020 switch to Dortmund where he has scored 49 times in 51 matches.

Add to this six goals in 10 caps for his country and Haaland has become one of the most exciting, if not the most exciting, young talents in the world game.

Lewandowski, who is having a sensational season himself at 32-years-old scoring 42 goals in 36 games, feels Haaland is good enough to reach the very top.

However, the Pole feels the Norwegian may start finding things too easy after such a deadly start to his career, but Lewandoski has backed him to overcome it.

‘He’s a great player. He has huge potential and he’s still very young,’ Lewandowski told CBS Sports on Paramount+ of Haaland.

‘If I see his face and how hungry he is to score goals. In the future, he has a chance to be the best striker in the world, for sure.

‘But sometimes when everything is going well, it’s really not easy. But if you see him, he has scored so many goals and he’s so young.

‘It’s great to play in the Bundesliga and it’s great to see a young player in this league and compare.

‘He is the player who can be the best, but I want to play at the highest for many more years, so I am happy to be there where I am.’

Haaland has been linked with almost every top team in Europe, with a huge-money move expected in the summer.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Juventus and Bayern Munich have all been mentioned as possible destinations for the powerhouse striker and Dortmund will expect to lose him, despite insisting on a huge transfer fee for his services.
