The Handmaid’s Tale fans in tears over June’s shock emotional reunion

Warning: spoilers ahead for The Handmaid’s Tale season 4 episode 5.

The Handmaid’s Tale viewers were left in tears after June (played by Elisabeth Moss) and Moira (Samira Wiley) were finally reunited on Sunday’s show.

It was one of the most emotional moments the drama has seen in some time, with two fan favourites back on screen together.

The pair, who were best friends in real life before becoming Handmaids, connected once again – and some viewers simply couldn’t handle it.

It came after June and Janie continued their journey to try and reach more rebels in Chicago after escaping the clutches of Aunt Lydia earlier in the episode.

Moira embarked on her first field aid mission and June and Janine faced an unexpected military attack, which marked some of the most dramatic moments in the season so far.

Janine’s fate was made unclear after the attack, with viewers unsure if she made it out with her life.

However, viewers were in a very emotional mood after Jine and Moira were back together after such a long time apart.

Taking to Twitter, one fan said: ‘Not gonna lie, I burst into tears at the end there.’

Another said: ‘Oh Handmaid’s Tale. I’m not crying…’

Does June and Moira’s reunion mean that June could be heading to Canada in next week’s episode? Could she even be coming face to face with her husband Luke?

We’ll have to wait until next week’s show to find out.

Meanwhile, The Handmaid’s Tale star Madeline Brewer recently opened up to Metro.co.uk about Janine’s pivotal flashback scene in season 4 episode 4, outlining how the storyline had to be changed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Janine has been a force for good in the show ever since its 2017 premiere, remaining pure of heart despite suffering many horrific experiences.

The Handmaid’s Tale airs on Sundays at 9pm on Channel 4.
