Whether it’s been decluttering the house, giving our gardens some TLC or crafting.
But one thrill-seeker has gone above and beyond.
Ben Tolliday has spent the extra hours building a roller coaster in his back garden in Atlanta, Georgia – which features a 10ft high drop.
The 19-year-old came up with the idea to construct his single lane ride back in March and his handiwork took three weeks to complete.
Although, it did come at a price.
Ben destroyed half of his parents’ balcony to complete the project, as that’s where the adrenaline-fuelled ride takes off from.
The coaster is made up of predominantly two by four wooden planks and a plastic pipe track – and the wooden kart seat has 12 caster wheels that hook over the tracks to increase stability.
The initial build was steep and sudden with not much run off when speeds got high – but after experimenting a little with angles and smoothness, the structure was ready to go.
Ben grabbed his crash helmet and put his hard work to the test.
On the first human run Ben screamed all the way until the end – but his roller coaster proved to be a success and still sits in the garden.
Friends and family have also been taking the incredible creation for a spin.
Ben said: ‘I have always loved roller coasters but I had been looking for something to build for quite a while and came across a YouTube video of someone who had made something similar in their backyard a few years ago and decided that I wanted to give it a try.
‘I was so happy after going down it for the first time because It had taken me a lot longer than I expected and I came quite close to giving up at some points.
‘I had anticipated it would take me about a week to finish but it ended up taking three weeks but it was definitely worth it.
‘It is very smooth, quite fast, and very scary.’
